apple of eve

the silence was binding
the dayless , nightless
ascend this nothing
deathless , lifeless
bad blood blinding
soul from the source tree
oh apple of eve
take this bite , relieve me
earthly burden of existing
vegetation plentiful
and animals long extinct
locked in ivy cages

satan said that this could save us

and shortly
winds were shaking
splintering all four directions
bricks fell
as satans creatures scattered
through and over garden walls
the human couple
in the center clasped together
closely loving one another
more than they had understood
while the moon rose for the first time

and that was the apple of eve
